Our activated biofilter are natural water purification systems with plants. These plants are plants having their roots submerged and their stem and inflorescence above water. In Europe we generally use reed (Phragmites australis), Yellow Iris (Iris pseudacorus), Bulrush (Typha latfolia), small cattail (Typha angustifolia), etc. To reduce evaporation losses we use papyrus (Cyperus papyrus) for projects in the Middle East and Africa.
